sky

Published by under just stuff

Got some stuff going on around here.

Things are disappearing into boxes.

Pictures are coming off the walls.

For now, I’m going to enjoy the blue sky as I get ready for the next couple of weeks.

help make a miracle

I have a friend named Brent and a friend named Michelle. During my young adult years we spent lots of time together hanging out, going to dances and other young adult activities thru church. Several years later Brent’s younger brother Brian and Michelle’s younger sister Jennifer were married. A few years after that Daylon was born.

Daylon is a special spirit with a life threatening disease.

He has Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa Herlitz, and you can read more of his story here: helpmakeamiracle.org

He is now nine months old and has the chance to undergo treatment which may save his life. Unfortunately, as is usually the case with situations such as these, it is a very costly opportunity. Especially for the family of five young children.

This weekend there will be a benefit to help raise funds for Brian and Jennifer’s family.

There is an article running in the local newspaper that you can also read here: Parents of a Corona boy with fatal genetic disorder have new hope

There are a few events taking place to help with their effort. You can read up on them here: Events

Or you can help by making donations thru this page: Donations

I know not everyone who feels the desire to help can do so monetarily, so I want you to know that this is a family of great faith and we know that prayers go a long way.

Thanks for stopping by today and taking the time to read this.

Hug your children and your family.

green

I finally finished my first knitting project yesterday! I’m happy with the results and find it fun to see what the difference is between knitting and crochet. The stitches hold so differently, it’s fun to have a stretchy green scarf!

Mr. O wasn’t too excited to be my scarf model today. It’s sprinkling outside and he didn’t want to get wet. LOL!

dragon box

Did you know that Pioneer Woman has occasional photography challenges you can participate in?

This weekend she issued a macro challenge and I’ve been participating each day. It’s been a lot of fun to find different things around the house to photograph and add to the flickr group.

I’m also happy to have my camera back, it keeps going on vacations without me.

The photo above is of a dragon box I bought for Don years ago.

I love mythological creatures. I love dragons. When I saw this it reminded me of Smaug with the way he’s curled up on top of the box where you put your treasures, so I just had to get it for him.

I honestly doubt I’ll ever make it to PW’s top photos, there’s just way too much talent out there and I honestly don’t know enough about my camera.

But the challenges are a fun way to help me learn about my camera and rediscover what’s around me.

easter

We had a fun Easter yesterday with family at my Sister-in-Law’s house.

The boys and I spent the morning decorating our eggs for the annual Egg Roll competition. Last year Owen learned what happens to your egg during the Egg Roll and opted to not participate. He just has too much fun decorating his egg to have is smashed for the sake of fun. LOL! 😆

This year Perrin did a puffin scene, Don made the eyes, I made a totoro, and Owen made Bullet Bill (you’ll see the inspiration later this week).

Out of our three participating eggs, Don’s lousy eyes made it the farthest but none of us placed in the top three. This year the honors went to Devin (1), Kelly (2) and Jenna (3).

I’m hoping that by next year we’ll know the secret to the blue eggs. Until then, I’m contemplating how I can fill my egg with cement. 😉

Hope you all had a Happy Easter weekend!

fuzzy face friday

Another fuzzy face from the archives.

Today I was attacked by the 50 ft Migraine Monster and spent most of the day in bed. Fortunately, I’m feeling better now but it sure was a task taking the boys to school and picking them up today. Thank goodness for left overs so dinner was easy.

I haven’t had much time for taking photos. I hope to make up for some of that this weekend. We’re going to have a fun family Easter at my Sister-in-Law’s on Sunday and I’m really looking forward it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter!

fuzzy face friday

Don’t let the snuggly face fool you. He’s been a fuzzy monster this week.

We have the back yard restricted a bit to keep him from digging where we want the grass to recover. (darn doggie noses)

This week he’s been bending the wire fence down, jumping over it and having a hey-day peeping at the neighbor’s dogs. He’s a peeper, he made a hole to peep at them. And darned if he doesn’t look cute jumping over that fence. Don’t tell Don I think it’s cute, I’m supposed to think it’s naughty.

So he’s sure to give me his best cute face while he’s inside to make up for the naughty.

And when it’s at the feet of this:

I buy it.

Just don’t ask me about it.

Happy Friday!

It’s been a very different week for us here, which I may share at a later time when things have settled down to reality.

For now, it feels like we’re doing the chicken run, you know, when their heads are cut off (or shot off, like I once saw my Aunt do. Impressive and upsetting to an Elementary School student. LOL). Hopefully some of that will settle after the weekend.

We’ve been enjoying a moderately relaxing time off-track. Which will be our last since our school district is going traditional next year and we’ll no longer get month long breaks during the year. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with myself when the boys are home for the duration of a “real” summer.

For now, I’ve been working on my knitting!

knitting1.jpg

I started lessons last Wednesday and learned how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. My homework is to use those skills on this scarf. You get the cool ridges by alternating your knit and purl stitches! I love the cheerfulness of the green. It will be a reminder of Spring when I use it next winter.

I’ll be reporting in to my awesome teacher at A Knit Affair next week. I was supposed to go this week but decided to have a migraine instead.

How silly of me!

My excitement over learning to knit is one of extreme nerdiness. I’m still at the point where you can’t hold a conversation with me or I’ll royally mess up, but I make up for it by annoyingly showing Don how my scarf looks every five minutes making him pretend to be impressed.

So far he’s a good sport.

Happy Friday! And Happy Weekend!

This picture is from a fun Gunnell family day last year at the park. Perrin is attempting to dodge the ball during family kick ball.

I like the fun movement in the picture.

Anyway, looking forward to several things this month.

1. Knitting lessons start tomorrow
2. Making chocolate chip cookies tonight
3. Completing more baby projects (not for me)
4. Giving said baby projects to the Mommies-to-be
5. Hanging pictures
6. Game nights
7. Sleeping in during the week
8. A day at Castle Park
9. Watching Anime with my brother
10. Meeting the newest niece, due to arrive this month!

Just to name a few and in no particular order. 😉
