oh what do you do in the summertime?
Oh what do you do in the summertime? When all the world is green?
Do you bounce things downstairs, wear pajamas past noon and try to avoid going outside?
Is that what you do? So do I!

Basically, my life has consisted of lining shelves, opening boxes, praying to find my pretty dishes, and sweating.
Yesterday I broke into shelf lining roll number 12. I have two more full rolls to use up before I see if we need to buy more. I’m hoping we don’t because I’d rather spend that money on water balloons and try to snipe my brother-in-law as he comes home from work. I have been counting my blessings that my sister-in-law (wife of said brother-in-law) and I discovered that Costco, of all places, sells bulk shelf liner! Seriously, it’s much more liner for a much better price which is super good news when you have a lot of kitchen cabinets and drawers to line, in addition to the bathrooms. I finished with the kitchen yesterday (which makes me very happy) and now I only have the bathrooms left.
In the meantime, I like to leave the empty rolls out in the Morning Room to tempt my boys. They can’t stand that they are just sitting there on the counter, all empty and alone with no little boys to wield them as swords or ninja star launchers (paper ninja stars are all the rage over here this week). I’m saving them for projects with my boys, not just to be mean. 😉
For now it’s worth it for the chuckle I get every time I see one of them standing inches away from the forbidden empty rolls, a glazed look in their eye as they stand there breathing on them and wondering if they should just snatch one up and run for it.
Maybe I’ll be nice and give them one this weekend. Maybe ….

I have a new doorbell. It’s outside our new home!
After a very long escrow, followed by some (still unresolved) home selling drama and a month living with my awesome brother-in-law and sister-in-law we are finally in our new home!
All I can say after the experience of selling and buying is that I never want to do that again! 😆
Now the fun begins! Organizing, painting, decorating ….
Good thing the boys are done with school for the summer!

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have a humming bird friend who loves their backyard.
He’s fun to watch as he flies around, perching on the trees and darting to the bushes.
Can’t blame him, it is a nice quiet place to hang out!

Today I finished my first knitted hat!
I used the pattern for Basic Cable found in the Stitch ‘n B*tch NATION book by Debbie Stoller. (I’m not certain which one it is, so the link includes her current books)
This project was really fun. I learned how to knit in the round, cable stitch and decrease.
It’s fun to see it completed and Owen is already claiming it as his own.
He lucks out because he has the smallest head! LOL
Seriously, why can’t I follow the directions and have the hats I make turn out for adults? They always end up going to the boys. 😆

This makes us Green.
This makes us Blue.
This makes us sleepy.
TaeKwonDo belt testing days are tough on everyone. Especially little cousins.
