mmm mmmm!

We had a fun and busy 4th!

We are lucky that my parents live off of our local Main street where the parade route is and we were able to watch most of the parade with the boys. There is a really cute story about Owen and a basketball that I’ll share later this week along with some more photos that my Dad took.

The boys were excited to see a Storm Trooper in the parade and he later came back and took pictures with the boys, because you know, nothing says “Happy 4th” like a Storm Trooper!! LOL! 😆

Later in the day we had my parents over for some yummy hamburgers, potato salad (Don loved this potato salad. Next time I’m adding an extra egg and cutting the mustard down to 3 T), munchies, visiting/games, and this:

Oh me, oh my! This chocolate pie is good stuff! So easy to make and more than worth the 20 minutes of Kitchen Aid noise to mix in the eggs.

It turned out to be quite the joke because Don wanted me to just go buy a Marie Calendar’s pie but I really wanted to try a new recipe and doesn’t he know how good homemade pies are?!!

So I compromised and cheated by using a frozen Marie Calendar’s pie crust – which is really good, by the way!

Now I’m on a pie high! 😉

I must make more pies! LOL! Today I’m going to make a peanut butter pie.

Maybe next week I’ll make an apple pie. Anyone have a favorite recipe to share? I wouldn’t mind trying a new one out.

Today the boys are starting swimming lessons with their Auntie Heather! They are very excited and I’m looking forward to my new swimsuit coming today so I can join in the fun this month and hopefully get rid of my very obvious farmer’s tan! Scary!

    Emily,
How did the peanut butter pie come out?? I want a piece!

Love the pic. I’ll have to show Cody. The pie looks yum. I made her fresh corn dish and it was heavenly. At first I wasn’t sure that it only had 4 ingredients. But I made it as is and it was like candy. My kids devoured it!!
