Pinkcupcakes

Mmmmmmm …. mmmmmmmm!! Who loves cupcakes? I do! When I spied the cupcake images from justjohanna, it was hard to decide which ones to get first! Then I saw this sentiment and had to get the Cupcake Row image to go with it!

Card base is Chocolate Chip. This is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square card. I love this size for square cards, I just think they are so cute! The design for this card happened quite by accident, fortunately it was a happy accident! *wink*

First I stamped the Cupcake Row image on Naturals White Cardstock. Now, the original image has four complete cupcakes. I wanted the last cupcake to have a “bite” out of it. To do this I simply turned the stamp rubber side up, inked up the three left cupcakes with my Palette Noir Black ink pad, then carefully inked up a portion of the last cupcake, and stamped the image. I then colored the image with Prismacolors and Gamsol and added the shadow below the cupcakes and a few crumbs. To complete the sampled cupcake, I used my black marker to create the jagged bite mark, as well as the table top and outlined the crumbs. Stickles were added then the image was set aside.

I fussed over the set up of this card for a while and actually had a completely different layout in mind during the process. I matted the focal image on Chocolate Chip then added the decorative edge with scallop scissors. I wanted to add some pink to the card, but everything I was trying was way too much!

I ended up adhering the focal image to the Regal Rose cardstock. I started out by trimming the bottom edge, taking care to match up the scallops as best as I could. I was going to duplicate the cut on the top edge when I thought it might be fun to give it more weight at the top, and I figured I could always trim it some more if I didn’t like it. So I marked my cardstock and trimmed the top, again taking care to match the scallops. I loved the way it turned out, so I added some SU! colored brads that I added polka dots to with my White Gel Pen and adhered the whole panel to the card base.

Don’t those cupcakes look SOOOOOO yummy!??!

If you’d like to check out justjohanna rubber stamps for yourself and you’ll be in the Del Mar area this weekend, stop by the Rubber Stamp Expo going on! I’ll even be there helping out on Saturday! I’ll be at the booth for a couple of hours in the morning, then I’m headed off to work the Hosted Make-n-Takes in the classrooms! We have some cute projects set up for both days, as well as a Make-n-Take at the booth!

I hope to see you there!

Now, I want a real cupcake and it’ all your fault so I think you should bake some and send them to me!

Karen – try drawing on line on the back side of your cardstock to keep your scallops straight.
