coral things

I participated in a Sell-A-Bration swap hosted by Jami at splitcoaststampers. I love participating in Jami’s swaps and always sign up for as many rounds as I can! hehehehe! One thing that I also try to always do it have one pink card. Jami LOVES pink! So I take that on as a challenge to make sure I do one pink swap.

This color combo came about as I was holding sheets of different shade of Stampin’ Up! pinks together. Everything was looking too “bubble gum” to me for the card I had in mind, until I paired Pretty in Pink with Cameo Coral! Cameo Coral is one of those colors I just don’t use a lot, but since this paring, I’ve been trying it with different colors more often.

The card base is Pretty in Pink. Cut at 4 1/4 then scored at 5 1/2 for a top folding card. I then cut a piece of Cameo Coral to cover the bottom 2/3 of the card. Linen was then stamped tone on tone for some subtle texture. I then rubbed the cardstock with my Embossing Buddy, stamped the saying from Happy Harmony in Versa Mark and embossed it with black embossing powder. The Cameo Coral piece was then adhered to the card and black mini brads were added to help ground the card.

I then took the flowers from Happy Harmony and colored them with my Stampin’ Write Markers. The stems were done with Mellow Moss. I did the “thumping” technique for the blooms of the flowers. To do this you take your lightest color marker and color the image, then you take a darker colored marker and thump it over the image where you want to add some depth. For the blooms I used the Pretty in Pink and Cameo Coral markers.

I then matted the focal image on a layer of Basic Black, followed by Pretty in Pink cardstock after using the Ticket Corner punch on all the layers. Black wide organdy ribbon was tied around the card base, covering the seam, with some black gingham added to the knot. The focal image was then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I really like those two colors together! I rarely use my coral as well…I don’t know why? Cause I really do like it. Great card :o)
