candy cane forest

I’m back and slowly getting back into the swing of things! The weather was a shock to me. After a week in Hawaii coming home to the freaky cold weather that we are having for Southern California was a surprise to me! I know it’s not cold compaired to where several of my friends live, but for us, it’s cold! hehehe!

So, to help me get back into the blogging frame of mind, here is a fun card I made last month before we left. Can you guess where the inspiration came from? I had myself chuckling at this one when the idea came to me. All images are from justjohanna.

The bottom of the card is Pretty in Pink, cut with my scallop scissors for the top. I doodled around the edges to help ground it more since it was to be the mounds of pink snow for my little Chicklet! The sentiment, Wishing you a happy holiday, was stamped with Palette Noir Black ink, and then set aside.

I then stamped the candy canes to appear as if they are growing out of the ground like a tree. Candy Cane was stamped in Palette Noir Black, colored in with Prismacolors and then Stickles were added for extra sparkle! Next, I stamped Snowflake in Pretty in Pink, taking care to leave a place for the little Chicklet!

Chicklet Right was then stamped in Palette Noir Black. Since she was surrounded in a Winter Wonderland, I decided to add a cute scarf to help keep her warm! I simply drew it with a very fine point pen (01 point) and colored in every other stripe black so that the matching color could be added to the opposite stripes. She was then colored in with Prismacolors and topped off with a sparkle of Stickles!

I then tied the ribbon around the Pretty in Pink bottom of the card and then adhered it all to the front of the card. I love how this turned out! If you haven’t guessed by now, the inspiration for this card came from Elf! You know how he had to walk thru the seven levels of the Candy Cane Forest? So did the Chicklet!

Another fun trivia about this card is that it is a SNEAK PEEK of a new justjohanna image coming up in the next supplement! You’ll soon be able to get the darling scarfed Chicklet for your own! How cool is that!?!? I’m really excited about the new images and can’t wait to get my order so I can start making some samples with them! I have some favorites, but I can’t tell you! You’ll have to wait and see! In the meantime, I just might have some other sneak peeks to share! *wink*

I’m glad to be home and hopefully I’ll get everything caught up by this weekend so I can have some stamping fun!
