so very sweet!

Yesterday I got my SAB (Sell-A-Bration) pre-order! I am really loving the sets this year, and I especially love how Stampin’ Up! included a Simply Scrappin’ Kit in the mix! Fabulous!! Usually I go hog wild and pre-order all of the sets, then earn way too many duplicates during SAB time. This year I vowed to only pre-order one, but I decided to make the shipping worth it and pre-ordered three! OOPS!! *wink*

I think my favorite out of the three is going to end up being So Very! I just LOVE this! I really liked Think Big from the Holiday Mini, so when I saw So Very, I knew it was a must have for me! I really like the size of the images and the various sayings that you can construct with them. I was able to sit down and make two cards last night with this set, and here’s one of them!

The card base is Barely Banana, and I did NOTHING to it! Zip, zero, nada! No sponging, no background stamp, no dry embossing, it’s naked! ACK! Naked card base! This is something I rarely do, but when I was constructing this card I realized that I wanted to keep it simple in layout and tone.

Next I cut a strip of Whisper White for the focal image. I stamped “so very” in Barely Banana then stamped “sweet” under it in Regal Rose. The color combination for this card came from the very cute paper truffle (hehehehehehe!! JULIE!!) accent by Meri Meri. It came in a pack of four, with the cute flower on top varying in color. I picked these up when a local scrapbook store was calling it quits and have been hoarding it since! When I placed it on the WW, it seemed to fade away and blended in too much. So I took my Barely Banana marker and outlined the top of it to ground the accent and define it from the WW. For a finishing touch I added some stickles to the cute flower!

The mat for the focal image was created by using the Stampin’ Up! Slit Punch to make the big scallops. I’m not certain who originally came up with this fun idea, but I’m glad they did! When you use the Slit Punch you get big fun scallops! And that’s the look I was going for with this card. So I adhered the scalloped strip to the back of the focal image and then adhered a top strip to finish the mat look. The whole focal image was then adhered to the card base and that’s that! hehe!!
