cup of gratitude

I meant to share this card on Thanksgiving, but in my cold medicine induced state I completely forgot about it!

I love this paper from Wild Asparagus! It is called Beautiful Paisley and I’m wishing I picked up way more than one sheet of it when I went to Cat’s Craft Cupboard! What I especially love about it is the texture on the paper and that it is double sided. The whole card is made from this paper, because it is a lovely blue on the reverse side (you can get a glimplse of it from the angle of the photo) it is perfect for making a complete card out of it!

For the focal image I stamped the cute Grande Teacup image from justjohanna and colored them in with Prisma colors using gamsol and a blending stump to smooth the color. I did some paper piecing by stamping one teacup on a scrap of the Beautiful Paisley paper and carefully cut it out with my paper snips and craft knife from Stampin’ Up! then adhering it over the one I wanted to highlight.

The focal image was then matted on Bashful Blue cardstock and cut out with my wide scallop scissors. Since I wanted to do a transparency overlay, I placed the focal image toward the bottom of the card. I then cut the transparency to fit and marked where I needed to stamp the “steam”. What I used for the steam is one of the cute flourish words from justjohanna. This one is called Gratitude Flourish, since the word on the right of the image is “gratitude”. I tried to get a close up shot so you could read it better, but my camera just wasn’t cooperating today. You can have lots of fun with these words, and this one was perfect for steam!

I used my StazOn Opaque Butter Cream ink pad to stamp the steam on the transparency. I was tickled to see how the color matched the patterned paper so well! That ink pad was another goodie I picked up at Cat’s that day! I’m lovin’ these StazOn Opaque inks and wish I got more than the two I picked up.

The transparency is held on by the celery colored grosgrain that I got at Fabric Barn. I then attached a mini blue safety pin and tied a piece of light blue sheer organdy polka dot ribbon.
