We had a fun time this weekend! On Friday we started the Holiday weekend off with an eye appointment for Perrin. He has been having trouble seeing the board at school, so it was time to take him in. Turns out he has astigmatism in both eyes and is ready for glasses. He is actually quite excited about this and we finally found some frames for him today. He is going to look so cute!

Friday was also the last day of the fondant class I was taking at the local cake supply store. Don had put some stuff I needed up too high for me while he was vacuuming, so I was missing what I needed to do the cake borders. Then the bows for the tops of the cakes we had worked on the week before were a “no go.” The bows for the Tuesday class had not worked because of what we were working with. The “cake” we’ve been decorating has actually been styrofoam, so the fondant reacted differently to that than it would to a real cake. In the end, I came home with an incomplete styrofoam topsy turvy cake that I’m just not that excited about. But the class was worth it for the techniques that I learned and the instructor was wonderful.

On Saturday my parents treated us to A Day Out With Thomas that was hosted at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. Owen had woken up grumpy and was not very excited to find out where we were going, but as we were walking in from the parking lot Thomas went by and his face just lit up! Both of the boys were excited to get to ride on Thomas the Train. We also walked around a little bit and got to see some of the old trains that are in the sheds now. Owen was obsessed with finding Toby, and we found one close enough to be his cousin. Hehehehe!

Yesterday Perrin and I stayed home from church since he woke up very sniffly. He ended up sleeping for most of the day, and we both think he really needed that rest! He was home today, too, and is doing much better. He is glad to be going back to school tomorrow and hopefully he will continue to get healthy.

Today begins Cake Week. *BIG sigh* Darren, the youngest of Don’s brothers, is getting married this coming Saturday. Today will complete the kitchen deep clean that I do before each cake project, and the beginning of the baking. I am using Petal shaped pans and I will be covering the cake with fondant. Tiffany (my soon to be Sister-in-Law) picked a very pretty cake design and it adds some color to the cake, so it won’t be all white. It will be four tiers, with the top going to them, plus I’m making a small all chocolate Groom’s cake. Yum! Yum!

Hello late nights, and grumpy Emily! I’m lots of fun during Cake Week. I think we’ll be eating at Miguel’s a few times this week. *wink*
