oh poop!

Ohpooppaisley

I’m having fun with my justjohanna stamps! I’m finding it fun to see what I can do with the birds when combining them with the different accessories, props and sayings! The saying on this card is one that I had to have! We’ve all had days when we’ve forgotten something and probably had one of those “slapping forehead” moments about it, too!

All stamps are from justjohanna. The images used are Jolie left (love the cute swirly!), Open – Door Cage, and the saying is Oh Poop. HAHAHAHAHA! The images are stamped in Palette Noir Black on Whisper White cardstock. I then used my Prismas with Gamsol and a blending stump to color the images in. I then stamped the Jolie bird on a WW scrap and colored with the same technique, cut her out and set aside.

The patterned paper I used for this card has a beautiful worn look and I wanted to carry that feeling to the rest of the card. So you will notice that all the layers, including the card base, have had their edges sponged or DTP (Direct to Paper) with the Whisper White Craft ink pad. The focal image is then matted on Certainly Celery and then DTP with Whisper White Craft ink pad around the edges. That is then matted on Bashful Blue, cut out with my scallop scissors and then DTP with the Whisper White Craft ink pad.

To complete the focal image I then added cut up Dimensionals to the back of the Jolie bird that I cut out and popped her over the existing image. I wanted her to look like she was flying out of the cage, and masking just wasn’t giving me the depth I wanted. I then used my Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen to accent her swirly and the “o”s on the “oh poop” saying. The rhinestone from Hero Arts completes the focal image and gives it just the right amount of bling!

Card base is Certainly Celery. It was cut at 4 1/4 and folded at 5 1/2. I love the look when a card is folded this way. It can be used for a top folding card, or flip it on it’s side for a side folding card. For this card I flipped it on it’s side, so the fold is on the left. The edges are then sponged with my Whisper White Craft ink pad. I cut a strip from this beautiful patterned paper by Wild Asparagus; this pattern is called Beautiful Paisley. This paper is so lovely! It had a lot of texture and a nice heavy/sturdy feelling to it! The edges of the strip were sponged with a little more Whipser White Craft ink and then roughed up with the distressing tool from the SU! Cutter Kit.

To embellish the card I wrapped some May Arts celery striped ribbon around the patterned paper strip. I got this beautiful May Arts ribbon from StarLitStudio! I then added a single silver feather charm to a white mini safety pin with a jump ring and pinned the safety pin thru the knot of the ribbon. I felt like it was still missing something, so I tied a strip of blue gingham ribbon from Stampin’ Up! to the safety pin. The focal image is adhered to the card with Dimensionals and the card is completed!
