Justmoi

Whew! I’ve had a busy day today! Busy, but FUN! My Sister-in-Law called me up last night asking if we could go to Fabric Barn today. Would you say no to a trip to a store full of the most fabulous priced ribbons? NO WAY! So we drove down there and she had a blast going thru all the ribbons! Then we made it home, got lunch from Miguels and went to pick up Perrin from school. I’m pooped!

You may remember from a post I made a while back that I made the Design Team for justjohanna. I was able to drive down to Escondido and check out Cat’s Craft Cupboard and meet Johanna this past Saturday. It was so much fun to get to meet Johanna and Cat! (I hope you’re feeling better, Cat!) I also got to pick up some of my Design Team goodies and shop in Cat’s store! She has some of the funnest stamp lines! Justjohanna, Lockhart, A Muse, Rosie’s Roadshow, the list goes on and on! I will certainlly be making more trips to visit Cat and her store!

Fortunately, I got some fun stamping time this weekend and wanted to share with you my first card made with justjohanna stamps! Johanna’s stamps are very whimsical and fun! I have been getting used to using the images and coming up with image and saying combinations. This card here features the stamp image Chicklet Right and the saying Just Moi. I stamped them using my Palette Noir Black ink pad on Whisper White cardstock, colored with my Prisma colors and them punched them out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. The focal image is finished by adding Stickles to the chick and setting aside to dry.

The stamp base is Pumpkin Pie, the endges are sponged with the same color to give the card some depth. I then cut a strip from the Friends Floral patterned paper by Kaleidoscope. This paper is BEAUTIFUL! It’s thick, double sided and matches wonderfully with SU! colors! Who could ask for more? *wink* I used my paper piercer and piercing guide from Stampin’ Up! to pierce along the top and bottom edges of the patterned paper. I then distressed it lightly with my bone folder and set it aside.

Next, I took my 1 3/8″ circle punch, punched a hole thru the patterned paper and used the flip side of the punched out circle to mat the focal image. I then attached some Hodgepodge Hardware to the upper right side and adhered the strip to the card base. Using the punched out space for a guide, I lined up the same circle punch and punched out a circle thru the Pumpkin Pie card base. These are referred to as “Donut Cards” because the hole goes thru the top layers of the card, exposing the surprise image inside the card.

I then took my focal image, adhered it to a scrap of patterned paper and used my scallop scissors to complete it. See the inset to the bottom right to see how the image looks when the card is opened. The finishing touches were to add some May Arts sheer green and white polka dot ribbon to the hardware, secured it with some white ric rack and then turned up the corners of the patterned paper for more interest.

This was such a fun card to make! I love the colors of this paper, and how much fun the image of the little Chicklet is with the simple sentiment. This would be a cute card to send to a friend just to say “hello”.
