Still too hot to look like Christmas . . .

But I have the next trio of cards done that we’ll be doing on Saturday! It is challenging to come up with simple cards using the All The Trimmings Simply Scrappin’ Kit for me, but I am having fun! I know I am totally cheating on this trio by using the Marvy Mega Scallop Circle Punch, but I just don’t care! Hahaha! I figure that since this is not a class that I am doing as a Demo, that I can cheat a little! *wink*

The big circle self-adhesive die cuts fit perfectly inside the Mega Scallop Circle Punch! These punches are way too much fun for me, I love the way the look and how they make anything look more fun than it was before! Again, you will notice the simplicity of the layout and that minimal embellishments are used to help create quick and cute Christmas cards.

The card base, once again, are the pre-scored cards from the cards and envelopes packages that Stampin’ Up! sells. I simply cut the layer 1/4 inch smaller to get the framed look on the cards. The colors used in this trio are from the kit: Always Artichoke, Brocade Blue and the patterned paper included in the kit. Night of Navy is the only added accent color used for the scallop layer on the snowflake card.

The images on the self-adneisve die cuts are filled in with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, really adding a lot to the focal images! Those are then placed on the scalloped circles and set aside. On two of the cards I stamped the bottom portion of the layer, using the snowflake from Cold Play for one and the Twinkle wheel for the other. Wide organdy ribbon and the self-adhesive paper ribbons are added to the cards, along with a greeting that coordinates with each focal image. The word “merry” comes from the Perfect Ending stamp set in the Holiday mini. (I love how the Christmas tree at the end of the word goes with the ornament!!)

Other accessories used are: white grosgrain ribbon, silver cord, large oval punch from SU!, and the white brads. Not certain of the source on the white brads, they were in my stash and are not from SU!

So, three more down! Four more to go! I was up a little too late last night and will be re-doing one of the “four more to go” cards that I finished last night. Funny how things look good at 2:30 A.M., until you wake up and look at them again! It’s not that it’s really bad, but it’s just not simple enough to be a quick card. Oh well!
