It’s (not really) beginning to look a lot like …

Christmas. It’s been in the 80s and 90s over here during the day and it’s only October, but I have a Christmas Card Class scheduled for this Saturday. I am doing this for my Mom’s Church Group again, and I hope they find it to be a fun class. I decided that the easiest way for me to have them make some quick Christmas cards would be to use the All The Trimmings Simply Scrappin’ Kit from Stampin’ Up! I love the Scrappin’ Kits, they are a great way to get a coordinated project done quickly. Obviously, for this class we are using the kit to make some Christmas cards, but the kits can be used for all sizes of scrapbook pages and any other paper crafting project you can think of!

During the class they will make 10 different cards, splitting one kit between two stampers. They are beginning stampers and I did not want to overwhelm them with too many cards. Also, since they are beginning stampers I know they don’t have many stamping supplies, if any, at home; so I kept the number of cards down to make sure they can complete them during the class.

Pictured are three of the cards I have designed for them to make from this kit. You’ll notice that there is very simple stamping, simple layout, and that they are all layered on one of Stampin’ Up!’s prepackaged Whisper White cards from the cards and envelopes set. The extra embellishments are kept simple and to a minimum, using ribbon and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on all three cards with only one card using the fabulous colored brads from Stampin’ Up!

The colors are kept to those included in the kit, which are Brocade Blue, Always Artichoke and Real Red. The only extra color added is the Night of Navy which is one of the coordinating colors they used on the Self-Adhesive Diecuts in the kit. The red patterned paper is included in the kit, and is wonderful because of the weight of the paper. It is not thin, instead it is a nice thicker paper (not quite as thick as the cardstock).

The stamps sets used in this trio are Cold Play for the snowflake on the Christmas Tree card and the Santa hat on the Santa hat card. The Bold Snowflakes Jumbo Wheel is used on the Snowflake card as well as the Crosshatch background stamp.

I’ve got seven more cards to design for this class using the All the Trimmings Simply Scrappin’ Kit before the order comes in with all the supplies and I start to precut everything for them. We were expecting a turn out of about five max, but it looks like I have to prepare for twelve to fifteen! YIKES!! Thankfully I am having it in my home, so I won’t have to cart all the supplies around. I always forget something and for a group this size, that would be very bad!

Where did you get the stamps for the circular donut sentiments. Also, I looked up the name of the Scrappin’ Kit and cannot find it anywhere in my SU catalog. Am I missing something?
