Last month I took the boys to the LA County Fair with my parents. We had lots of fun looking at everything and my Mom and I were especially happy to find a rubber stamp booth among all the vendors. This is one of the stamps we found there, it is called Witch Shoes by Stampendous. My Mom came up with some clever sayings right away and I didn’t come up with this one until last night.

I stamped the image with Palette Noir Black on Shimmery White Cardstock (SU!), then I colored it in with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and re-inkers. The colors I used were: Pumpkin Pie, Vintage Violet, Old Olive, More Mustard, and Basic Black. I then used my Casual Snap Stamps for the saying “Haunt Couture.”(love that Stamp Fairy! *wink*) Oh man, I was cracking myself up with that one last night! I pressed a tad bit too hard and the “c” kinda blurred, but it’s still okay. I then distressed the edges with the Cutter Kit from SU! and then matted it on black, trimmed with my scallop scissors and distressed those edges as well.

The card base is Vintage Violet lightly stamped with Linen and edges sponged; all tone on tone. The background was done ala Julie by placing the inked stamp rubber side up, laying the cardstock on top and then walking your fingers over the back to get a worn look. This also added to the shading of the card base by creating spots of “light” were the image was not stamped. I then used the Horizontal Slot punch for the side and tied some black wide organdy ribbon around the card. A small black safety pin is secured thru the knot and the black and white sheer polka dot ribbon is tied to that. The card is completed with three mini brads from Queen and Company on the bottom right corner.

This card actually took a lot longer than it should because I was having a hard time figuring out the colors for the witches. In the end, I’m glad I had them all with black and colored striped tights. If you’re going to haunt, you might as well do it in fashion!!
