Sympathy

I have been so busy this week with Perrin back in school, and Owen going to pre-school. I’ve been reorganizing my stamp room because I’m learning how the set up works for me. I’m moving the stuff on my main table around, hopefully giving myself more room to work on projects. I really want to get this done before Saturday because it’s National Card Making Day and I want to STAMP!!

In the meantime, here is a card that I based on another card I made for Mother’s Day. I simply altered the color combination to make it a sympathy card. The Mother’s Day card can be seen in my gallery at splitcoaststampers here: WaterPixie’s gallery.

This card is a top folding card. You cut your cardstock at the 4 1/4 mark and then score it at 5 1/2 with the fold at the top of the card. The base is Apricot Appeal stamped tone on tone with Linen background. The bottom is Certainly Celery stamped tone on tone with Floral background. I love this background! (You can actually use just this background and a sentiment to make a beautiful card!)

The rose is stamped with Apricot Appeal and Pumpkin Pie on Shimmery Cardstock. The Apricot Appeal is stamped-off (you ink up your image then stamp it off on scratch paper to lighten the color) first for the bottom layer, with the full strength, then Pumpkin Pie for the top. Certainly Celery was used for the leaves, again with stamping-off for the bottom layer first. The focal image is then matted on Basic Black and distressed.

I tied black wide organdy ribbon with black gingham ribbon on top around the card. The focal image is adhered with dimensionals and the sentiment from Brighter Tomorrow is stamped in Basic Black on the bottom corner.
