trick or treat …

Tomorrow is a fun day for some of us SoCal StampMania alumni : MiniMania!! Once a year Jami, Joy and I organize and plan a big Southern California get together for stampers from https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ called StampMania. The girls have so much fun attending, that they wanted us to have it more than once a year. The thought of two kinda made us !! Then we figured out a way to scale it down and make it so that Jami, Joy and I can participate in the big shoebox swap and MiniMania was born! To get the invite to MiniMania, you need to be on the list from a previous StampMania. It is a much smaller get together, we can only house 32 people in the room. There are no door prizes, no raffles, and no make-n-take. It is simply a shoebox swap and potluck so that we can all enjoy stamping, eating and chatting!

For my shoebox swap, I decided to do a genie bag. It uses the same cardstock as a card, but instead of folding the cardstock in half you cut it so that you have a front and back for the bag. The cardstock covers a small gift bag that is cut down to fit. As you can tell, I was inspired by the “BOO” card I did earlier this week! *wink* The base of the bag is Vintage Violet (my first time using this color – it’s niiiiiiice!!), Canvas background is stamped over it in Vintage Violet. I then cut a piece of the Designer Paper Halloween Night for the mat under the Whisper White cardstock. The spider (Booglie Eyes) is stamped and then masked, the “O” and “R” (Headline Alphabet) are stamped in Old Olive and Vintage Violet before removing the mask. Using Whimsical Alphabet I stamped “trick” and “treat”, then colored the spider in with Pumpkin Pie, added glitter and two different sized googlie eyes. The doodling finishes off the focal image. I adhered the front and back before adhering the focal image with dimensionals to the bag. The Word Window Punch is used to make the handle for the bag and then I added some olive colored twill that I found at Fabric Barn. Everything is Stampin’ Up! except for the twill and the google eyes.

I can’t wait for tomorrow! As a treat to those coming, I am bringing them all what has been dubbed a “Scooby Snack”. It is my most favorite cookie ever, and it’s made at a local bakery that my Grandma used to take me to! I may have a challenge up my sleeve for them once they get home that will incorporate the tag!
