i blame the following post ….
on my last name.
Because I’ve learned in my 12 years of being a Gunnell, that in some language it translates to “takes pictures of birds.”
At least I haven’t gone completely over the edge. My sanity thrives on not actually knowing what bird this is. I leave that up to my husband, Father-in-Law, and Brothers-in-Law.
I only know this is a bird of prey because of the shape of the beak, and that’s where I draw the line.

LOL you are funny Emily….. I totally know how you feel on this one. Everytime there is a bird around and David is there I learn about 100 facts about that bird in like seconds! So funny!
HAHAHAHAHAHA. You know that bird nerd gene only extends to the males of the family . . . until now. Love it!!!!
Also, I couldn’t post on the monster comments page, but I love that! Such a cute idea – you should sell them! Or even make one that is a rear end and have it with money coming out of it — I’m bad, I know — but seriously. We could call it “The Greg” who I’m constantly trying to get him to squeeze money out of his arse.

Did you take this picture at your house? If you did, it’s a Cooper’s Hawk ,and his name is Bubba. He was once a pet from someone who lives in El Cerritto and now he roams around attacking mice and smaller birds. My dad has a bird cage out in his backyard and he attcks it all the time. He also likes to perch right on the stairs outside the sliding glass door so he can watch inside. He’s a funny bird. Ask my mom about him sometime! Once he went into our house through the open back door and got a parakeet and killed him to eat!
This is hilarious to me Emily, because everytime Brent’s parents go on a trip with your in-laws…they tell me about all the birds they stopped for so that Larry could take pics of them!
