… and a doubloon short, but I wanted to share these with you.

Yesterday was International Talk Like A Pirate Day, so here are a couple pirate cards to share with you. All images from justjohanna:

The colors for these two cards were inspired by this awesome striped paper from Li’l Davis. The layout for this card came from CPS quite a bit back. I love checking that site out for fun card sketches!

I stamped all image in Palette Noir Black ink, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement of the hat on Big Al. I decided that Little Al looked too plain next to pirated-up Big Al, so I made him a head-kerchif. (Haha! you know what I mean) 😉 To do that, I stamped him on Real Red and then drew lightly with a pencil the head-kerchif. Then I cut it out and finished it up by outlining it with a fine tip pen. I thought this made him look much more piratey.

I inked all the edges with Chocolate Chip dye ink and distressed some layers for extra texture. Since I wanted the focus to really be on Big Al and Little Al, I opted to simply stamp the sentiment and not color in the letters.

For this one I decided to just use Big Al by himself. Again, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to help with the placement of the hat. I find this tool to be invaluable to me when I’m having fun dressing up the cute birds from justjohanna. This time I colored in the word “pirate’s” with my white gel pen to make it pop. I colored in Big Al with Prismacolor pencils and added some red staples for a fun embellishment. All edges were inked with Chocolate Chip dye ink and some layers were distressed for extra texture.
