just beak cause

This card was inspired by another card I did for a swap. All images from justjohanna.

Card base is Tempting Turquoise. Cut paper at 4 1/4 and score at 5 1/2 to get a side folding card. This is also how I cut my cardstock for most of my top folding cards.

I stamped the Circle Dot Background with StazOn Black on to glossy cardstock. When stamping on glossy cardstock, be sure to keep your hand as steady as possible. The stamps can easily slide and smear your image. I also recommend setting the stamped images aside for a few minutes to ensure they are good and dry.

I then did the Crayon Resist technique using Pink Passion, Green Galore, and Tempting Turquoise. I then adhered a strip of Basic Black behind the crayon resist bottom and adhered it to the card base. The layer of thin black paper gives it a look of faux ribbon. I knew I didn’t want to add ribbon, so this was a great way to get the look.

Next I stamped the focal image using Just Beak Cause (JJ Mix) and Annabelle left. I then colored them in with Prismacolors and a blending stump and added the fun dots to the work “beak” with my Sakura White Gel Pen. I *love* these greetings by justjohanna! It makes it fun to customize your greeting by doodling in the big words.

Next, I got out my trusty Coluzzle and cut out the focal image, taking care to not cut off Annabelle’s tail. I then used my paper snips to trim out her tail and set aside. I used my Giga Scallop Punch and adhered the focal image to the Basic Black mat. The focal image is adhered with dimensionals and a touch of sparkle was added to Annabelle’s beak with my Sakura clear Stardust pen.
